Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen)

The Nest Video Doorbell (wired) released in 2022. It re-introduced a fully wired doorbell into Google’s hardware portfolio, allowing for features like 24/7 continuous video monitoring and a more compact form factor.

My main focus on this project was button cosmetics, tactility, and reliability. As the primary touchpoint of the device, the button development required intense cross-functional coordination and collaboration.

  • Making sure the button has a consistent premium click feel, across millions of devices, for the lifetime of the product. Working across teams to define a “tactility” spec, execute with suppliers and CM, and validate to lifetime.
